Blog 7 Independent Component 1 Approval
1.Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
For my 30 hours of mentorship I plan to continue to play soccer for my team in Covina, and I also plan to referee a few games at the region i volunteer at. I am going to do these things for a couple of months till the season has ended.
2. Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
In order to meet the expectation of showing evidence for my 30 hours i will be providing photos of the games that i am playing in and i will also provide records of my performances in those games. I will also try to get the opinion of my coach on how i am performing.
3. And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
If i continue to play soccer and referee games I hope it will allow me to better understand what the coaches are thinking during games and what decisions do they have to make during games. Also I hope by doing these things I will be able to see a different perspective of the game not just the player because having done research and read books already i have been able to see the difference already so hpefully by being out on the field i will truly understand it.

Noticing New Things
Thursday I was at my latest soccer game and the game had just ended and I had just noticed that some kids hadn't played at all during the game. I went up to the coach and asked him why he hadn't played some of the kids and his answer was we needed to win the game. This made me think about the book Coaching the Mental Game and it talked about it shouldn't be all about winning it should be about putting in a team effort and getting the kids to enjoy the time they have as a team. I didn't want to say anything because I would have felt weird but I will next time because it really isn't fair.

Blog 5: Project Reflection and working EQ
The Pentagon:
(1) Positive Statement: So far i have had one positive encounter. That encounter happened when I was walking through the soccer field and a parent came up to me and said thank you for organizing the scrimmage game against my sisters team. I felt great about it after because it felt good to know i was helping other kids do better.
(2) EQ Content: the one pice of research that has really helped me better understand my topic is the article that talks about coaches and the leadership throughout the team. This piece of research has helped me because now i see the way people step up on a team to try to make others better and not just helping themselves.
(3) What has worked for me so far has been the people trying to help make my senior topic better. When i let people know what i am doing as my topic they try helping me by giving me tips and ideas to better help me understand my topic.
(4) One thing that has not worked so far has been finding quality research. There is research available but i am not able to find research on what really helps a coach make his or her team successful.
(5) Finding Value: In what ways can a soccer coach be successful and a good leader at the same time?
I have not found a mentor yet but i have emailed soccer coaches at Cal Poly and i am waiting for a response.

Always Coaching
So last night I had a soccer game and I know my senior project isn't playing soccer but it was during the game that i noticed something odd that i was doing. It was almost the end of the second half and my coach decided to pull me out and give me a rest but i wasn't tired so i went and sat down by the coaching box. After a few minutes i couldn't take just sitting there anymore so i stood up and started pacing the sideline. I then noticed something on the field that I didn't like so i started yelling to some of the players and they actually listened. Soon i found myself directing players around an my coach looked at me and he goes " am I the coach or you". he didn't say it in a bad way more sarcastically. I then caught myself and realized that i had payed so much attention to coaching that i was out for 15 minutes. I then went back into the game and I left with the thought that coaching just comes naturally to me.
